Only Two Weeks until the 2013 Leadership Louisville Luncheon

Featuring Mayor Mick Cornett of Oklahoma City, theme is “Change Starts with a Conversation”


Louisville, Kentucky (August 13, 2013) – In just over two weeks, the 2013 Leadership Louisville Luncheon on August 29 will feature a critical conversation on the importance of making choices to chart the future of Louisville as well as communities throughout the state of Kentucky. As featured keynote speaker, the Honorable Mick Cornett, Mayor of Oklahoma City, will share how his focus on urban design, health, sports and the arts have led to Oklahoma City’s remarkable renaissance. With the theme “Change Starts with a Conversation,” over 50 Kentucky elected officials including members of congress, state legislators, mayors and judge executives from across the Commonwealth will attend. They will be joined by the nearly 1,000 influential business and civic leaders representing over 200 companies.

Registration is still open for the 2013 Leadership Louisville Luncheon on August 29, held in partnership with the Leadership Louisville Center and the Office of the Mayor. The event will be held on Thursday, August 29 at the Galt House East, 140 N. Fourth St. Pre-luncheon networking will begin at 11 a.m. and the luncheon will follow from 11:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Individual tickets are $75 and table sponsorships are available for $1,200. About Mayor Mick Cornett

As Oklahoma City’s 35th Mayor, Cornett’s leadership has made Oklahoma’s economy and unemployment rates among the best in the nation, as well as landed them a regular spot on many “Best Of” lists. By implementing visionary infrastructure investments with parks, sidewalks, streetcars and a new convention center, he has reshaped the city, dramatically improving the overall quality of place. In addition, Mayor Cornett is responsible for actualizing the nation’s largest public school capital investment, successfully bringing an NBA franchise to the city and carrying out groundbreaking health improvements. Presented by the Leadership Louisville Center in partnership with the Office of the Mayor, the Leadership Louisville Luncheon has gathered influential leaders from across the region for over 20 years. Special guest speakers have included top mayors in the country to share insights on community development initiatives of interest to the Louisville community. Last year's event was attended by about 1,000 community leaders representing nearly 300 companies. It featured Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson and launched Mayor Fischer’s 25-year Vision Louisville initiative, to create a unified vision for improving Louisville and developing a blueprint for how the city should look and feel in 2037.
