WorldFest Update - Workforce Readiness

Here is an update on what our Workforce Readiness team is working on with the Mayor's Office. The last week of July, LSHRM was notified that someone from the Mayor's Globalization Office wanted to partner with LSHRM to add a Job Fair during WORLDFEST 2012. There was a brief meeting and Rawleigh Richardson, Director of Workforce Readiness, suggested that we form a team of various resources such as KentuckianaWorks, OET, Louisville Urban League, Carolyn H. Whitaker-Tandy with Congressman John Yarmuth's Office, and the Jewish Family Career Center to coordinate this event. This team has since met 2-3 times each week and has created the attached letter and application and booked the Galt House as a location next to the WORLDFEST event on August 31st, 2012 (Friday).

Rawleigh will need just a few volunteers for the table during the event. John Reliford, LSHRM's Chapter President for 2012 has said that he would be there representing our organization. We would like at least three additional volunteers. Two people would be at the tables assisting job seekers with a quick resume review. The other two would rotate at the table and help set-up during the event. The LSHRM table will have copies of the Workforce Readiness pamphlet and handouts on resumes, interviews, and job search website recommendations.
